Recent Expert Witness Experience

2021-2022. Only defense Expert Witness for a major jet fuel manufacturing company in Ohio. A contractor received a prolonged acute exposure to Jet-A while repairing a fuel transmission line valve and is now seeking damages for multiple acute and chronic health effects that the Plaintiff feels resulted from the exposure. Expert Witness prepared extensive report after analyzing over 1,000 pages of medical records, completed 3.0 hour deposition, and is preparing for courtroom appearance as Defense Expert on December 12, 2022.

 

2021-2022.  Retained as Expert Witness for the case of a female in Florida who suffered an extensive chronic exposure to automobile gasoline when the hose that delivers fuel to the vehicle ruptured.  Plaintiff suffered both acute and chronic health effects that the Plaintiff believes are related to the exposure. Plaintiff is filing suit against on of the largest commercial gas station companies in America. 

2015-2017. Expert Witness for California litigation involving family exposed to commercial wall repair product and now suffering probable severe chemical sensitivity effects, thought to be based on dermal and systemic sensitization to formaldehyde. Case against major commercial manufacturer and home improvement chain was settled in favor of the plaintiffs in April 2017 after several meetings with court. Expert Witness prepared reports, was deposed for 3.5 hours, and testified in two case-relevance hearings.

2014-2015. Expert Witness for California litigation involving commercial truckers exposed repeatedly to high levels of Freon R236a air conditioning refrigerant during nationwide truck travel, and now suffering multiple debilitating physiological and psychological health effects. Expert witness prepared extensive reports and was deposed for over 6 hours in 2014. Case was dropped for financial reasons by the Plantiffs.

Preparation of Toxicology Reports for Potential Litigation

2016-2017. Working with Plaintiff’s attorney in preparing case perspective and review of medical health reports and available scientific literature for a commercial flightline fireman in Oregon exposed repeatedly to JP8, JP4, other flightline hydrocarbons-based solvents, and aircraft firefighting chemicals. Plaintiff is reporting with extensive physiological and psychological health effects.​

Supporting North Carolina plaintiff’s attorney in preparing case perspective and scientific documentation for a young family exposed repeatedly to high levels of R410a air conditioning refrigerant in a new stick-built home. Severe acute and persisting health effects are reported in all family members, including two young children.

Reviewing medical health reports and exposure scenarios for career military flightline veteran in Virginia exposed repeatedly to JP8, JP4 and other flightline hydrocarbon solvents. Plaintiff and other career colleagues are reporting severe physiological and psychological health effects, including brain cancers.

2013-2014. Report preparation for possible Ohio litigation by private artist exposed for over 30 years to turpentine fumes in an enclosed studio, and now suffering from severe neurological, pulmonary and dermal health effects.

2013. Report preparation for possible Chicago litigation for an executive assigned to an airport office who died after pulmonary complications/cancer thought to be related to repeated exposure to jet fuel raw fuel and exhaust fumes.

Preparation of Safety Pharmacology and Product Safety Reports

2004-Present. Prepared numerous proprietary toxicology reports for major international pharmacology companies, chemical companies, and other clients for a major applied science and technology development company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.

2009-Present. Worked as toxicology consultant for numerous small toy and art supply manufacturers throughout China to prepare product reports to meet European Union/Commission, US FDA, Canadian government, and Australian government requirements.

Persian Gulf War Illnesses Research Experience

1993-2003. Worked as Assistant Served as Director, Neurobehavioral Effects Laboratory, Senior Scientist I, Geo-Centers, Inc., Director of Scientific Compliance, U.S. Navy/U.S. Air Force Environmental Health Effects Institute; Neurobehavioral Effects Laboratory, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. Involved in numerous Federal Government-sponsored animal and human studies of chemical exposure and other stressor effects encountered by US and International troops during Operation Desert Storm and other PG deployments. Was a member of the Persian Gulf War Research Council.

Testified as Neurotoxicology Expert/Persian Gulf War Illnesses Researcher on behalf of the U.S. Navy/U.S. Air Force Environmental Health Effects Institute, Neurobehavioral Effects Laboratory on the possible Toxicity of Persian Gulf War chemical exposures and other stressors. Conference on Federally Sponsored Gulf War Veterans' Illnesses Research Arlington, VA June 1998.
